People should avoid DIY dental trends
"The ADA's primary concerns with DIY dentistry are, and always have been, patient safety and quality care," said ADA President Linda J. Edgar, D.D.S. "Our job as dentists is to put patient health first."
Some jobs are best left to the professionals, and that includes your dental health, according to the authors of an article in Yahoo! News, who talked to Dr. Edgar. "Dental products are never one-size-fits-all," she said. "No two mouths are alike, which is why it's important to work directly with an ADA dentist or orthodontist to determine the precise care that your body needs."
In between dental checkups, people should look for products with the ADA Seal of Acceptance to assure that they are backed by evidence-based research and science.
