Ozempic may yield weight loss but also bad breath

Reports of “Ozempic mouth” and “Ozempic teeth” — gum inflammation, tooth decay, and bad breath — are emerging among people using GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic.
Experts attribute these issues mainly to dry mouth and dehydration caused by appetite and thirst suppression from the drugs, along with altered saliva production. Some patients also experience vomiting and gastrointestinal side effects, which can further harm oral health.
Physicians emphasize the importance of hydration, oral hygiene, balanced diet, and notifying dentists and doctors about GLP-1 use to prevent periodontal problems. Most severe cases appear linked to inadequate hydration and lack of medical counseling.
