How diet soda can harm teeth
Although diet sodas may be considered healthier alternatives to regular sodas, experts urged against the regular consumption of the beverages.
Experts cited in a news article from Health indicated that despite having lower sugar levels, diet sodas contain the same ingredients as regular sodas and are acidic — which can lead to dental erosion.
In addition to oral health issues, the intake of diet sodas may elevate the risks of hypertension, diabetes because of artificial sweeteners and kidney disease because of the phosphorous content.
To avoid the adverse health effects of drinking diet sodas, the experts advised individuals to opt for water, seltzer, naturally flavored drinks or pro- and prebiotic beverages.
