A new bill, introduced by state Sen. Stan Clouse, would pressure insurance companies to spend a minimum of 85% on patient care or provide patients with a refund. If the legislation were to pass, dentists hope that insurance companies would be encouraged to prioritize patients. Similar bills have already passed in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
The bill was presented on March 10 to the banking committee.
