Donate to California wildfire victims
ADA leaders share sadness, gratitude
Association leaders are encouraging the ADA community to donate to the California Dental Association Foundation’s fund dedicated to those impacted by the wildfires.
Strong winds and dry conditions sparked intense wildfires in the Los Angeles area on Jan. 7, destroying thousands of homes and structures and resulting in at least 10 deaths. As of Jan. 14, there were four separate fires — the Palisades, Eaton, Hurst and Auto — none of which had been fully contained.
“I’m deeply saddened by the destruction in California from the wildfires. There are no words to describe what our friends, colleagues and fellow Americans are going through as they watch their worlds fall apart,” said ADA President Brett Kessler, D.D.S. “I’m encouraging ADA members — and the public — to do what they can to help those in need. It’s through community, friendship and helping hands that we survive.”

Karin Irani, ADA 13th District trustee who practices in Los Angeles said while her family is safe and her practice is still intact, she knows several dentists who have lost their home and practice.
“I am devastated by the damage caused by the wildfires, which have profoundly impacted our beloved city and community of Los Angeles,” said Dr. Irani. “This tragedy feels especially personal as I learn about many family members and friends who have lost their homes and offices in the fires. I am so impressed by the generosity and support within our community, as members come together to offer assistance, whether by providing lodging, financial help, or simply reaching out to check on one another.”
Dr. Irani encourages dentists who are struggling to contact the CDA Foundation’s Wellness Program, which is a no-cost, confidential source of support for dental professionals who are experiencing stress, anxiety or depression related to these events or other challenges.
