Organized Dentistry Coalition supports tax legislation
The Organized Dentistry Coalition is supporting provisions in a bill recently passed by the House that would expand the child tax credit and reestablish tax incentives for business. The bipartisan bill, which is called the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act of 2024, includes several tax policies that support dental practices and practitioners.
In a letter to Sens. Chuck Schumer, D-NY, and Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., the coalition expressed support for provisions such as an increase in limitations on expensing of depreciable business assets and a deduction for research and experimental expenditures.
“These tax policy priorities will directly support small business dental practice owners, dentists, and dental students so that we can continue to expand our oral health care services nationwide,” they wrote.
The coalition also shared tax policy priorities it hopes to see in future packages, including the “fair treatment” of income generated by pass-through entities, many of which are dental practices, and the Main Street Tax Certainty Act.
“We stand by ready to collaborate with you in your efforts to craft tax policy that will benefit small businesses, dental practices, and American families and workers,” the letter concludes.
