Let’s talk shots: Free webinar helps dentists discuss COVID-19 vaccine with patients
Dentists and dental team members seeking to learn more on how to effectively discuss the COVID-19 vaccine with their patients can attend a free webinar discussing a key role the profession can play in increasing vaccine confidence.
Let’s Talk Shots!! – Effective Patient Conversations & the COVID-19 Vaccine will stream on March 3, noon Central time. The webinar will provide dentists with talking points on the value, safety and necessity of receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
Continuing education credit is pending.
The learning objectives of the webinar include:
- Strengthen confidence in the dental team’s role and ability to discuss and promote the COVID-19 vaccine with their patients.
- Deliver proven tools for talking through vaccine fact or fiction with patients in the dental office.
- Learn motivational interviewing techniques to listen to patients’ concerns and address them in a patient-centered manner resulting in shared decision-making.
- Incorporate cultural and racial sensitivity and humility into discussions of vaccine hesitancy.
Speakers include Hugh Silk, M.D., a professor at the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s department of family medicine and community health and cofounder of “Smiles for Life,” the award-winning national curriculum on oral health for health providers; Brittany Seymour, D.D.S., associate professor and global health discipline director at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine; and Lilia Larin, D.D.S., general dentist in San Diego, California, and former president of the Hispanic Dental Association and the American Association of Women Dentists.
